Scott dedicated much of his life post-transplant to “Making A Difference.” The generosity and support of so many people over the past 18 years has allowed the Foundation to continue his work. Thank you! When Scott passed away in 2003, vehicles like Facebook and Twitter did not exist. The remarkable communication opportunities through social media and the Internet, along with this website, make the possibilities for The Scott Young Foundation so much bigger than we had ever dreamed.
You Made A Difference!
You got it started! The Scott Young Foundation is now a fully registered, tax-deductible charity. The wait was worth it! The Foundation is a sustainable entity to continue supporting the causes that were so important to Scott. We will be forever grateful to everyone who stepped up in the early years and trusted us with their donations. We are hopeful that you will continue to find The Scott Young Foundation worthy of your support. We are also hopeful that you will partner with us and tell others about the Foundation. Just imagine what could be accomplished if together we build a network of committed people across the globe who are connected to Scott and his causes. Doing this will mean that we can “Make A Difference” for decades to come!
The Scott Young Foundation Made A Difference!
Your donations of over $47,000 have funded contributions to the following initiatives in the past 18 years.
- Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation
- Warming Blanket Station for Transplant Ward, Toronto General Hospital: The first for this ward.
- Toronto XVIVO Lung Perfusion Clinical Trial to effectively treat, re-assess and improve the function of high-risk donor lungs to be successfully transplanted into patients
- Multi Organ Transplant Activity and Education Fund to send two TGH nurses to a Transplant Conference
- Canadian Transplant Games attendance by two TGH nurses
- Scott’s Essentials: Personal supplies for in-hospital transplant patients of families in need
- Hockey Equipment for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program which partners with some of Canada’s influential sport, wellness and health organizations to help Canadian kids get back into physical activity.
- Kidney Foundation of Ontario: “Corporate Sponsor” of Fundraiser Walk
The impact of the Foundation has not been limited to the funds that have been donated. Through the generosity of Jeff Bradshaw, Owner and Director of Camp Wenonah, over 100 children of the dedicated health professionals on the transplant ward at Toronto General Hospital have attended the camp. See our home page for more details.
Together We Will Continue To Make A Difference in 2021 and Beyond!!
By the end of 2022, our goal is to raise an additional $10,000 to further the work of the Foundation. An ambitious goal? Yes it is, but with the social media communication opportunities providing greater outreach than we have ever had, and with your help, we believe it is achievable! We will continue to look for those initiatives that best meet the goals of the Foundation. The needs of the Transplant Ward at Toronto General Hospital are numerous and we will identify the best ways to provide financial support to them. We are also actively searching out needs within the scope of our mandate and we will be keeping you well informed as to our specific initiatives, whether they be through hospitals, other charities or the community at large.
How Do You Remember Scott?
